When It Was Cool Contributors Help Launch the Debut Issue of Gruesome Magazine
Joseph Perry and Mike Imboden, the hosts of When It Was Cool’s Uphill Both Ways podcast, are featured writers in the debut issue of Gruesome Magazine. This first issue is available now in digital version, and a hard-copy version is in the final stages of being printed.
In “Isaac Ezban; Filmmaking from Another Dimension,” Joseph Perry (who is also the senior copy editor of the magazine and a writer for When It Was Cool) interviews this fast rising auteur, whose The Similars and The Incident have taken international film festivals — and now home media — by storm. Mike Imboden checks in with a piece on another fast-rising independent horror filmmaker in “Found Footage 3D: Steven De Gennaro Forges the Rules of Enragement.”
Perry and Imboden are also contributors to the Gruesome Magazine website at www.gruesomemagazine.com. Besides the When It Was Cool/Uphill Both Ways staff contributions to Gruesome Magazine’s debut issue, the fine folks behind the Horror News Radio family of podcasts and the Gruesome Magazine website offer a wealth of fantastic articles and interviews about horror films and filmmakers from the independent and film festival circuits.
Fans of classic and not-so-classic horror movies will find much to like in Gruesome Magazine #1, including articles about Motel Hell (1980) and Mystics in Bali (1981). If you are a fan of The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and classic science fiction and horror cinema and television from the 1950's through the 1980's, Ezban’s films will hold a great deal of joy for you.
