01-09-1900: Frank Gotch fails to pin Farmer Burns in an exhibition match in Ft. Dodge, IA.
02-1900: Paul Pons wins the Greco-Roman championship tournament in Germany.
06-1900: George Hackenschmidt becomes the champion of the Russian Czar’s invitational tournament by defeating Belgian champion Constant le Boucher, Petroff the Bulgarian Giant, Peytouse the Tiger of France, Michailoff the Mighty Cossack, Spanish champion Shorella, German champion Emil Fengle, and by forfeit over Laurent le Beaucairois.
08-1900: Frank Gotch fails to pin Farmer Burns in Humbolt, IA.
09-14-1900: Frank Gotch defeats Farmer Burns in Winterset, IA. This is Gotch’s first known defeat of Burns. To this point (not counting fail to pins of exhibitions) it appears Frank Gotch’s record is 26 wins and 2 losses with both losses coming before he started training with Burns.
