02-20-1933: Jim Browning defeats Ed “Strangler” Lewis in New York City, NY to become recognized as World champion by the New York State Athletic Commission in just over 57 minutes.
03-14-1933: Wrestler Jack Hurley falls to his death from a fourth floor window in Manhattan, NY.
05-10-1933: Gorgeous George defeats Jack Lipscomb in Eugene, OR to win the Northwest Pacific lightweight title.
05-15-1933: Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeats Joe Savoldi in New York, NY. Savoldi held a disputed victory over NWAssociation champion Jim Londos.
06-03-1933: Legendary wrestling pioneer William Muldoon dies at the age of 88 in Purchase, NY.
06-07-1933: Stanislaus Zbyszko files for bankruptcy.
10-22-1933: World boxing champion, who later turned wrestler, Primo Carnera, defends the world boxing championship against Paulino Vzcudun in what was, until April 2000, the heaviest world boxing title match ever with a combined weight of 488 3/4 pounds with Carnera weighing 259 1/2 pounds.
