02-11-1969: Dory Funk, Jr. defeats Gene Kiniski for the NWA World heavyweight title in Tampa, FL.

05-14-1969: A tournament is held in Mobile, AL for the Alabama title. Round one: Ken Lucas defeated Dick Steinborne. Billy Boy Hines battled Bob Boyer to a draw giving Ken Lucas the tournament victory.

05-19-1969: Thunder Sugiyama defeated Billy Robinson in Sendai, Japan for the IWA World title.

08-29-1969: Dick the Bruiser regains the Indiana WWA World title from Wilbur Snyder.
