Round up for October 6, 2016

By: Karl Stern (@dragonkingkarl, @wiwcool,

Here is your weekly round up of news and notes for the first week of October 2016.

Unfortunately, the #WhenItWasCool family has only visited one haunted house attraction so far this season at Arx Mortis in Killen, Alabama.  We were going to go shortly there-after to my favorite haunted attraction from last year in Courtland, Alabama but we found out that the owner had sadly passed away and the event had been discontinued.  We will likely go this coming weekend to either Netherworld near Atlanta, Georgia or Atrox Factory in Birmingham, AL.  Of course, we will have a story for When It Was Cool.

I am doing reviews of all the Star Wars movies in order leading up to December's Star Wars: Rouge One movie.  So far, I have reviewed Star Wars - Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars - Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones.  It will be a while before I get to Revenge of the Sith as I am now watching all the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated shows.  I've only previously seen a few of them so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I have a brand new video up for our YouTube channel featuring the 1970's Shogun Warriors Godzilla so please check that out and support our YouTube channel and subscribe.  We will be regularly posting new videos and I promise they will get better as we get better at making them.

I am very happy with the success of the When It Was Cool Podcast so far.  This week we released episode 3.  I still really need some listeners to leave a review at iTunes as this is extremely helpful in boosting our visibility through iTunes.  You can also listen at Stitcher as well and if you have any other suggestions where we can publicize our podcast please let us know.

I want to thank Phil Nourse greatly for the article he contributed on Marvel Universe Live at London's O2 arena.  I really want to feature a lot more content like this.  Right now we are just starting out but we are accepting unpaid freelance material and I don't mind if you plug your website, podcast, product, or whatever in the context of the submitted article.  Just please remember, we are a true family friendly site so no course language or suggestive content of any kind but if you want to submit an article or audio please reach out to me at I would love to expand with other media providers!

Finally, please consider a contribution to the site.  It is my hope that we can expand our podcast network and website but presently we aren't even close to meeting site expenditures.  We are still less than a month old but for to be what we know it can be we need to expand our content.  So if you would like to donate any amount please use the link below and THANK YOU!
