1845:

01-16-1845: An advertisement in the New York Daily News is placed by Tyron’s Circus for a benefit wrestling match between “Hubble and Martin”.

02-27-1845:  The Elssler brothers present another of their physical culture exhibitions in Richmond, VA which includes “Grecian Wrestling”.

04-11-1845:  Charles S. Ottignon opens a gym in New York City and advertises that he is teaching wrestling among other athletics. It is located on Canal Street near Broadway.
