1859 (Unspecified): James H. McLaughlin wins his first wrestling match defeating a logger named Hiram McKee for $100 in side bets. Following a fight after the match, McKee is allegedly hospitalized. McLaughlin’s wrestling career was marked with many injured, maimed, and even killed opponents.
