09-19-1867: Detroit, MI: Merrill Hall: E.P. Harrington defeated William Payne in 5 out of 7 falls.
09-19-1877: Boston, MA: Music Hall: Attendance: 1,500: American champion James Owens defeated Charles Murphy. The newspapers give the primary occupation of James Owens as a farmer and Murphy as a blacksmith.
09-19-1878: In other animals and wrestling news stories, The New York Daily Herald runs a story stating that a bull broke loose near 2nd Avenue and 42nd Street and Officer James Quigley, who was a Greco-Roman wrestler also, wrestled the bull to the ground.
DragonKingKarl Notes: While William Muldoon ate up all the publicity as the wrestling policeman from New York City, he wasn’t the only wrestling policeman from New York City. Little information is out there about Officer James Quigley. Quigley came up at the same time as Muldoon and stayed on the police force longer. At one point, he met a Boston police officer in a New York verses Boston policeman wrestling match.

09-19-1887: Chicago, IL: Battery D Armory: Attendance: 500: Frank Whitmore defeated Charles Moth 3 out of 5 falls in Greco-Roman.
