Brit Floyd Concert Review - A Celebration of the Music of Pink Floyd

You might be saying to yourself (as I was) "Why would I waste my time with a tribute band?"  Good question.  On June 10, 2018 Tonya and Karl from When It Was Cool traveled to Huntsville, Alabama's Von Braun Civic Center to see Brit Floyd and it was definitely not a waste of time.

In my opinion very few artists rank a full scale traveling tribute band to begin with.  The music must transcend the artists themselves and I find very few bands have a body of work that rises to that level.  Rush for sure.  Led Zeppelin. Probably a few others... but very few artists exist that this level of tribute show would work for.  Brit Floyd is an amazing experience, the music is extraordinarily faithful to the original to the point of sounding almost identical to the recorded version by Pink Floyd.

This could have came across as boring and uninspired to hear an almost exact reproduction of Pink Floyd's music done by someone other than Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and gang but I found it had an entirely different effect- it really brought my attention directly onto the songs themselves.

When It Was Cool had previously seen Roger Waters in concert but I found that Brit Floyd's show did something that not even Roger Waters did for me, it drew my attention directly to the music and the songs themselves.  I actually discovered a number of songs that I had previously glossed over had a lot to offer and several deep cuts from the Pink Floyd catalog are now on my radar.

The music was flawless and the light show was amazing.  Of course, the Pink Floyd (and Roger Water's) stage shows are legendary and Brit Floyd really brought the goods on a smaller venue scale.  The theater the show was held in seemed to seat about 2,500 people and appeared to be sold out.  That's a pretty remarkable accomplishment for a "tribute band".

It was a wonderful evening and When It Was Cool highly recommends checking out Brit Floyd whenever they are in your area.
