April 3, 1982 Southeastern Championship Wrestling Television Show Review

We continue our look at the NWA Southeastern Championship Wrestling promotion and television program from Dothan, Alabama television studio.  There isn't a lot of footage from 1982 and 1983 unfortunately.  What little does exist (like this clip) is incomplete and poor quality.

This clip is from the April 3, 1982 show and The Fabulous Freebirds Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes had returned to the area and were actually feuding with each other.  Larry Hamilton, an up coming Florida wrestler, gets involved this time.  This angle leads to a No DQ match between Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy the following Monday night at Birmingham's Boutwell Auditorium.

Later that year, Michael Hayes would lose a series of loser leave town matches to Terry Gordy around the circuit.  Larry Hamilton would wrestle, on and off, for Southeastern and later Continental and would have a decent push as a junior heavyweight.

Terry Gordy is clearly positioned as the bigger and badder of the two and Larry Hamilton is the underdog.  Hamilton puts up a good fight but a piledriver pretty much ends it for Hamilton and Gordy continues to rough him up until Michael Hayes throws in the towel.

Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes begin to brawl and Jos LeDuc runs in to assist.  The fight spills outside and Gordy hits Hayes (pretty weakly) with a steel chair then brings him inside and piledrives him on top of it.

The clip ends with Larry Hamilton getting the chair to protect Hayes while the heels exit the ring.
