04-1864: George W. Flagg, a long time wrestler and member of the Vermont Infantry, leaves the hospital after recovering from a leg wound, and wins the Grand Championship of the Army of the Potomac in a Gettysburg tournament. Flagg was the wrestling champion and physical instructor for the Vermont 2nd Infantry. Flagg trained such regional collar and elbow champions as George Georghan, Lee Burton, and Sam Fox.
