02-27-1973: In a giant tournament spanning four months, Giant Baba gains eight wins, no losses, and two draws defeating Bruno Sammartino, Terry Funk, Abdullah the Butcher, The Destroyer, Wilbur Snyder, Don Leo Jonathan, Pat O’Connor, and Bobo Brazil. Baba draws once with Sammartino and Snyder. Giant Baba gains the All Japan PWF World title which remained the World title for All Japan (they also recognized the NWA World title) until unified into the Triple Crown in 1989. Baba holds the title until 1978.
