01-04-1999: New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) holds Wrestling World at the Tokyo Egg Dome in front of a reported 62,500 fans. Results: Manabu Nakanishi defeated Kazuyuki Fujita… Osamu Kido & Tadao Yasuda & Tatsumi Fujinami defeated Heisei Ishingun (Kengo Kimura & Michiyoshi Ohara & Tatsutoshi Goto)… IWGP Junior tag team championship: Dr. Wagner, Jr. & Kendo Kashin defeated Shinjiro Otani & Tatsuhito Takaiwa… IWGP Junior heavyweight title: Jushin Thunder Liger defeated Koji Kanemoto… Kensuke Sasaki defeated Atsushi Onita by DQ… Yuji Nagata defeated Dave Beneteau… Don Frye defeated Brian Johnston… Naoya Ogawa battled Shinya Hashimoto to a no contest… IWGP tag team championship: NWO Japan (Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) defeated Genichiro Tenryu & Shiro Koshinaka… IWGP heavyweight title: Keiji Muto defeated Scott Norton.

The Ogawa vs Hashimoto match was bizarre. It had every indication as a double cross shoot but after reading many expert opinions from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter to Chris Charlton of Eggshells: Pro Wrestling In the Tokyo Dome and interviews with various people who were there the match finished seemed to be the planned one but Naoya Ogawa, possibly under the direction of Antonio Inoki, was legitimately trying to hurt Shinya Hashimoto in order to boost the real or shoot image of Inoki’s UFO promotion.

Results: No rope exploding barbed wire match: Atsushi Onita battled Masahiro Chono to a double knock out… NWO Japan (Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) defeated Manabu Nakanishi & Yuji Nagata… Tatsuhito Takaiwa defeated Minoru Tanaka… IWGP Junior tag team titles: Jushin Thunder Liger & Great Sasuke defeated Dr. Wagner, Jr. & Kendo Kashin… IWGP Junior heavyweight title: Koji Kanemoto defeated Shinjiro Otani… Kazuo Yamazaki & Kazayuki Fujita defeated Alexander Otsuka & Yuki Ishikawa… IWGP tag team championship: Kensuke Sasaki & Shiro Koshinaka defeated Genichiro Tenryu & Tatsumi Fujinami… IWGP heavyweight title: Keiji Muto defeated Don Frye.
